What is YNAB MCP?
YNAB MCP is a Model Context Protocol server that connects your YNAB (You Need A Budget) data to AI assistants. Once connected, you can ask questions about your budget in natural language:
How it works
1. Authenticate with YNAB
Connect your YNAB account through OAuth. Your credentials are encrypted and stored securely. You can revoke access at any time.
2. Configure your MCP client
Add YNAB MCP to Claude Desktop or another MCP-compatible client. The server syncs your budget data locally for fast queries.
3. Start asking questions
Ask things like "How much did I spend on groceries last month?" or "What are my top merchants this year?" The AI uses YNAB MCP's tools to fetch and analyze your data.
